Hi everyone, FUSION 2008 has run its course, and we are so pleased to have had such a fantastic response from artists, art lovers and interested parties alike from all corners of the world. The website has had an amazing 1,953 hits, and loads of media have linked up and supported our cause.
On behalf of the Fusion team – Paul, Fiona, Sandra and myself, a big thankyou to 696, concrete-canvas, twoflatwhites, deviant art, josh spear, joy FM, RRRFM, blogos/haha, graffiti.org/artcrimes, onlymelbourne, frank151, thatsmelbourne.com.au, spraci.com and rave magazine for all the media traffic you sent to our website! (if i have missed anyone, send me a comment and ill add you!!)
We would also like to say a special thankyou to our sponsors, namely adi design and 696 Gallery who have been incredible putting up with me!!
Mostly we would like to thank all of our artists who so kindly donated their work. It really was fantastic to be able to promote some of the best artists around, and to help the world see what is going on in the new millennium around street art.
This has been a great success for us, as we are just uni students running a final year project, and we ran this on a really tight deadline of eight weeks from conception to execution to evaluation.
The ebay auction was really fun, and we thank everyone who bid on the auction to help Kids Under Cover in their work towards preventing homelessness. Congratulations to the bidders who won pieces, you now own some truly collectible artwork. We can tell you that Seldoms piece went to New York, x10’s piece is coming here to Australia, and the historical Commonealth Games piece keeps its home here in Australia.
We raised over $500 which is fantastic. Going into the auction we did not know what to expect, and so went in with no expectations. We had the attitude that whatever we could raise would be more than we started with, and Kids Under Cover need every dollar they can get.
We hope our little contribution not only helps someone who really needs help, but also that our auction helped unite people and remind everyone that when people unite, you can make a difference, you can have a voice that gets heard, and we all want to be heard. Street art has an important place in society and represents the voice of the people, which in turn represents freedom.
To think that my little voice all the way down here in Australia can show the world how much our global street artists care about making a difference to the lives of others has been a real honor, because as we all know, kids don’t live on the streets, they die.
Peace, Terri
